Giovanni Drenthe (Paramaribo, February 16, 1990) is a Surinamese footballer who currently plays for SV Voorwaarts from Paramaribo . Drenthe also plays for the youth teams of the Surinamese football and is considered one of the greatest talents in Suriname. The attacker is related to the Everton FC player Royston Drenthe.

In the SV Voorwaarts Drenthe mainly plays for the team promise. In jeugdcompetitie Surinamese youth teams and talent makes a big impression. He was one of the greatest talents in Suriname. The best game in the youth teams should Drenthe repeatedly join the main force. On January 6, 2008 Drenthe makes his first goal at the highest level in the derby against SV Robinhood(3-4 loss).
In September 2007 is Giovanni Drenthe and his compatriots Ruiz Kromorejo and Fabian van Dijk moved to Netherlands for three weeks as a permanent internship at the youth of sc Heerenveen. Drenthe played them in exhibition games of sc Heerenveen A1 and knew the difference in level despite a good impression during his internship. In October the players flew back to Suriname, pending further discussions. In consultation was discussed that the sc Heerenveen talents take over, but it will continue indefinitely guide in Suriname.
Having played for the shad Surinamese youth teams, he was in 2009 his debut in the A-Surinamese team. Since then know the young player to impress the coach Wensley Bundle.
